How Enlumen Uses AI
Enlumen is an AI-powered home energy assistant. Our system uses machine learning and artificial intelligence to analyze your energy usage patterns, device telemetry, weather data, and utility rate structures to generate personalized energy insights and recommendations.
What AI Does in Enlumen
- Pattern Recognition:Identifies your home's energy usage patterns, including heating/cooling cycles, EV charging habits, and solar production trends.
- Insight Generation: Produces personalized observations, interpretations, and recommendations about your energy use — such as identifying unusual consumption, suggesting optimal charging times, or forecasting HVAC costs.
- Conviction Scoring: Each insight is scored for data quality, freshness, and cross-validation before being shown to you. Low-confidence insights are suppressed until the AI has enough data to be reliable.
- Curation: AI selects which insights are most relevant and valuable to show you, based on magnitude of impact, specificity to your home, and freshness.
What AI Does NOT Do
- Enlumen does not autonomously control your devices without your explicit consent and authorization.
- Enlumen does not sell or share your personal energy data with third parties for advertising purposes.
- Enlumen does not make financial decisions on your behalf.
Data Sources
Enlumen's AI processes data from the device accounts you connect — including Tesla, Lennox, and other supported platforms — as well as publicly available weather data and utility rate information. All data processing occurs on our secure servers.
Human Oversight
All AI-generated insights are reviewed for quality through automated guardrails before being presented to you. Our team continuously monitors the system's output quality and accuracy. You can always override or dismiss any AI recommendation.
Your Control
You can disconnect any device at any time, which stops data collection from that source. You can request deletion of your data by contacting us at [email protected].
